President Uhuru Kenyatta has scoffed at the National Super Alliance (NASA) proposal to create the posts of Premier Cabinet Secretary and two Deputy Premier Cabinet Secretaries.
Through the State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, Kenyatta said the power-sharing deal by the Opposition coalition is not only costly but also unattainable.
NASA intends to create the office of Chief Cabinet Secretary and two deputies, in case it dislodges Jubilee regime from power in the August polls.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will be Premier Cabinet Secretary deputised by Moses Wetang'ula and Isaac Ruto.
Esipisu said having the constitutional changes within 90 days of taking office was not an easy task.
“Making constitutional changes that require a referendum will simply not take three months. It will take years,” he said.
He laughed at the three NASA principals for agreeing to ‘take jobs that don’t exist’, saying the move to amend the constitution is likely to backfire.
“You know, people have agreed to take jobs that don’t exist, so, one of the opposition leaders was saying in a media interview that the first job for the team will be to use billions of shillings to change the constitution so the three phantom jobs can be legitimised,” Esipisu said on Sunday.
Both President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto has dismissed the Opposition line-up as a ploy to create jobs for its leading figures.
“NASA formation was never about the country. It was about giving jobs to themselves instead of the millions of Kenyan who need jobs,” Uhuru said on Thursday during a rally in Kiambu county.
