Kiambu Jubilee Party politicians have urged residents to support the party's candidates in next month's general election so that President Uhuru Kenyatta can have people who will help him push his agenda for the country.
Led by Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and Senator Kimani Wamatangi, the leaders argued that President Kenyatta if reelected, risks becoming a ceremonial president with no power to make government policies.
"Uhuru might be a lame duck President for the whole term if the party does not have enough members in the next Senate and National Assembly," observed Waititu who is JP's governorship candidate.
Wamatangi urged residents not to let President Kenyatta down and shun independent candidates, whose election he said may deny him a chance to actualise Jubilee manifesto.
“He is going for his second and last term. We must support him so that he can leave a legacy,” said the Senator during a function in Lari constituency.
Former county TNA coordinator Gladys Chania asked Kiambu voters to come out in large numbers and help the Head of State win in the first round.
“This election is very tricky and people must realise that. We have to give Uhuru all our 1.2 million votes to help him emerge victorious," Chania said.
