A revolt is brewing among members of Gusii community following the ‘underwhelming’ Jubilee elections in Nairobi in which Women Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga lost to incumbent Rachael Shebesh.

Omanga, who hails from Gusii, cried foul and accused Jubilee elections board of barring members of her community from voting.

And  her photos that went viral online and her subsequent post on Facebook page in which she accused unnamed individuals of blocking her entry to party headquarters , where she had gone to file a complaint.

“Omanga is our daughter and many of us were not allowed to vote for her. They targeted us and they have reverted to mistreating her. We have no option other than supporting NASA,” said Gladys Nyaboke.

“It is wrong to humiliate someone who has worked hard to popularize Jubilee party not only in Nairobi but also in Kisii. We shall deal with them in August,” added Gael Ondieki.

Although she has remained silent over the matter, Shebesh was declared winner having garnered over 90, 000 votes to Omanga’s 65,000.

The Jubilee strategist team had earmarked Kisii and Nyamira counties, which are predominantly occupied by Gusii community, as crucial battlegrounds from August polls.
