President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto landed in Nyeri county with a message that may have gone contrary to the the expectations of incumbent Nyeri Governor Samuel Wamathai.
Wamathai who fell during the Jubilee primaries to former Vision 2030 director Wahome Gakuru had to swallow the sour pill after Uhuru and Ruto called on locals to ensure they vote for Jubilee candidates only.
It is reported that while campaigning at Mathira in Nyeri county on Thursday Uhuru and Ruto told the residents to vote for Jubilee candidates only.
"We saw how the coalition arrangements messed President Kibaki and derailed his agenda. Please do not let him (Raila) mess my agenda. Show up to vote," said Uhuru.

Wamathai who took over the reigns of leadership in the county after the untimely death of the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua had hinted at defending his seat on an independent ticket but the clarion call by the president is seen as a big blow to his quest.
