All the 12 MPs from the region, most of whom belong to the opposition gave the ruling Jubilee Coalition leaders a hearty reception at Nyamira Primary School where they first landed.

Governor John Nyagarama (ODM), his deputy Amos Nyaribo, Senator Kennedy Mong'are (Ford-Kenya) and Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamoko were among the host of local leaders who welcomed the Jubilee leaders.

Immediately after landing, Kenyatta was welcomed by Ruto who had arrived about five minutes earlier before hugging and shaking hands with the host of MPs, aspirants and politicians from the area.

President Kenyatta for the first time since a public fallout between him and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire in Parliament, the two exchanged hearty handshakes in Nyamira.

"Mr Bosire you are a good person but you should stop those bad things," said the president as he laughed it off.

Bosire fell out with the President in parliament during the recent State-of-the-nation address in the House when he refused to stand for a moment of silence in honour of the Kenyan soldiers who lost their lives while on mission in Somaliland about four months ago.

Ruto and Uhuru addressed five public rallies at Kebirigo, Nyaramba, Ekerubo Gietai, Nyamira Town, Keroka and Rigoma Shopping center, before holding consultative leaders meeting where all the politicians shared, in a closed door meeting, issues to do with local and national politics as well as regional development.

During the tour of Nyamira, Uhuru commissioned projects worth more than Sh3 billion, launching the construction of the Amabuko -Magombo - Tombe Kemera Road and that of Obwari - Mabiria - Chabera together with the Metamaiywa - Mosobet - Kebirigo Road, all at a cost of Sh2.5 billion.
