[Photo/the-star.co.ke]President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have mourned the death of widow to former Foreign Affairs minister Robert Ouko, Ms Christabel Ouko.Christabel died Monday evening after she was involved in a tragic road accident along Kericho-Awasi road.She was traveling back to her home after attending the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Kisumu governor professor Anyang' Nyong'o when the incident occurred.In his condolence message, Uhuru has described the late Christabel as dedicated and strong woman. "During her long life, she distinguished herself by her dedication to her family, her community and her country. She served the nation as a civil servant, and then supported her husband as he too served Kenya with distinction. In later years, she devoted herself to her family and to her community; in doing so, she helped others make the most of their talents, and earned their gratitude," said Uhuru in a statement from State House spokesperson Monoah Esipisu, Monday."Her long journey is at an end, but the memory of her strength, her character, and her love will remain in the hearts of all those whose privilege it was to have known her," Uhuru noted."The President’s prayers and condolences go to the Ouko family and friends. May they be comforted, and may they be granted the strength to come through this trying period," he added.On his part, Ruto noted Ouko's widow will be remembered for her tireless efforts in spearheading for education for all."We remember her tireless efforts to ensure education for all and spending considerable time and resources towards this end," said Ruto in a tweet, Monday."She took the mantle from her late husband, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Robert Ouko, to uplift and transform lives and never looked back," the DP noted."Her memory will live long in the hearts of the people of Koru and the entire nation. May her soul Rest In Peace," he added.
