Just days to the Jubilee Party official launch, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are yet to reveal who the party’s interim officials are.
With more than 10,000 delegates expected at the launch, competition for the posts is stiff with intense lobbying from both Uhuru and Ruto’s camps.
The President and the DP have kept the nominees’ private ahead of the September 10 launch where Uhuru will address the convention and unveil the party’s interim officials.
According to party insiders, planning the launch has been meticulous with Jubilee planning to use the event to shake the opposition.
It will also be a show of might 355 days to the 2017 election.
Delegates to the launch start arriving in Nairobi on Wednesday with Jubilee Party’s National Steering Committee co-chair Noah Wekesa saying everything is in place.
“The delegates will start arriving in Nairobi on September 7 and the delegates have been booked in various venues where they will ratify the resolutions to fold and merge to join Jubilee,” said Dr Wekesa as quoted by the Nation.
The 12 parties merging to form Jubilee Party are TNA which has 1,650 delegates, URP with 1,000, APK has 620, UDF has 600.
New Ford Kenya, JAP, PNU, the Republican Council, UPK, The Independent Party, and GNU will bring 500 delegates each.
The party will be housed in a multi-million eight-storey building at the Pangani interchange.
