Eldoret farmers on Monday attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto due to what they termed as favoritism they are exhibiting against them.
According to the farmers, they have been discriminated by the two leaders who seem too busy only helping their own people.
Speaking to reporters at Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) the farmers claimed that the Deputy President will always go to his people and fund them while ignoring Eldoret farmers.
The angry farmers also faulted president Uhuru Kenyatta for helping only farmers from his Central Kenya backyard. They claimed that farmers in the former Central province enjoy loan waivers unlike them who are in the North Rift.
"We normally see the Ruto pass by this place aboard a plane and after a short time, we see him on TV singing with his people in some other regions. After that he goes to Western says one and two things then he gives them some money," said James Kiprotich, a farmer from Moiben.
The farmers further criticised the government for investing so much money in projects such as the Galana Kulalo instead of buying maize from them.
Furthermore, they decried the government's failure to pay them back their money for the delivered maize.
"Our President as well normally goes to his home ground and sits down with his people, the coffee and khat farmers. Loan waiver is done day and night. But with us, just yesterday we were issued with forms to fill and wait until 2018/2019 budget. So we cannot be paid our money when other people enjoy waivers?" posed another farmer.
