The interim national leadership would be based on the strength of each affiliate party and the constitutional requirements of regional, gender, youth and disabled people’s representation.

“Powers have been given to the President and the Deputy President to identify leaders who will form a national interim leadership of the party. According to the formula, they will look at party strengths based on the last elections. The more votes a party got in the last elections, the more the seats it will have,” the Jubilee Party’s National Steering Committee co-chair kiraitu Murungi told a local paper.

Senator Murungi said affiliate parties have been given less than 30 days to join the new outfit, Jubilee Party.

The president and Deputy President will take the posts of Party Leader and Deputy Party leader respectively.

President Uhuru and DP Ruto will defend their seats in the 2017 elections on the Jubilee party ticket.

"In 2013, we vied on different political parties that formed the Jubilee Alliance but next year we will unite all these parties under one Jubilee Party so that we can bring all Kenyans together," Ruto had earlier said.

The amended Political Parties Act which paved way for Jubilee merger was signed last month. The act provided a road map of merger of political parties.
