The government has been urged by a section of leaders from North Eastern to resolve the problem facing schools from the region.
The MPs asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to find a solution after non-local teachers from the region refused to return to their workstations for security reasons.
The MPs from Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera said the education sector in the region has been greatly affected by the transfer of non-local teachers from North Eastern.
Wajir Senator Abdulahi Ali said the decision by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer non-local teachers from the region was wrong.
Speaking at parliament buildings, Mr. Ali said President Kenyatta needs to intervene on the education of the region adding that their children have a right to education.
“The TSC has fallen to a trap by Al-Shabaab and their action is only meant to divide Kenyans. We are asking President Kenyatta and his deputy to intervene and have the decision by the commission rescinded immediately,” said the senator.
Other leaders present were Yusuf Haji (Garissa), Mohamed Mohamud (Mandera) and Eldas MP Adan Keynan.
Mr. Keynan said that learning in most of the northeastern region schools remain paralysed as many teachers have failed to return to their classrooms in the aftermath of the terror attack in the region.
TSC had transferred non -local teachers from the region following an attack on February 16 at Qarsa Primary School.
