President Uhuru Kenyatta is set for yet another tour of Nyamira, barely a month after he commissioned a number of projects in the region.
The president is set to launch new JAP offices as part of his strategy to woo voters from the vote rich Gusii region which has traditionally supported the opposition.
However, according to an official who spoke to the reporter on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, the tour is likely to witness ugly scenarios between two leading gubernatorial aspirants on JAP ticket.
“We are in the final stages of putting things in order ahead of President’s visit on Thursday. He will officially open our JAP offices as we put strategies on how to win Nyamira County,” said the official.
“But I see the scenario will be chaotic according to our intelligence reports. I am told Walter Nyambati has not welcomed the latest entry of Charles Mochama to JAP and this is likely to bring more confusion,” added the official.
The official also said the two were allied to the country’s top leadership and their war may reflect untold infightings between President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
“I am sure that Nyambati is a close friend of President while Mochama’s entry is being fronted by politicians allied to DP Ruto. It’s a tough task but hope it will be peaceful,” the official said.
Mochama defected to JAP from Cord in his unprecedented announcement on Friday; a move that has also caused panic within the opposition given his reported popularity.
