Barely a fortnight after opposition leader Raila Odinga declared Gusii region a NASA zone, President Uhuru Kenyatta is set for a two days tour to the region.

Earmarked as swing despite voting Odinga in 2013, Jubilee party is fighting to increase its stake in the region that has historically voted against establishments.

And the Tuesday’s tour shall see the president and his team address several road rallies starting from Keroka in Nyamira before proceeding to Rigoma both in Kitutu Masaba.

Kenyatta will again proceed to Keumbu market and later on address a final rally at Jogoo estate in Kisii County.

In March, Kenyatta toured the region to launch a number of infrastructural projects across Nyamira and Kisii counties, although locals have been questioning his commitment towards tea and coffee industries.

While Kenyatta depends of veteran politicians Chris Obure, Walter Nyambati and Joseph Kiangoi to tilt the ground in his favour, Odinga has invested in a youthful team that is working under the leadership of Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and Kisii governor James Ongwae.
