President Uhuru Kenyatta will this week receive the amended electoral laws to either sign them into law or return it to Parliament for revision.

This is amid mounting pressure from the opposition and other stakeholders urging the President not to sign it.

In a heated debate last week, Jubilee Senators outnumbered their Cord counterparts to pass the contentious bill. 

However, the opposition has since expressed reservations over the bill which proposes a manual backup to voting should the electronic system fail.

They argue the move to pass the bill is a ploy by the Jubilee administration to rig the August elections. 

They have threatened to call for mass action should the President assent to the bill.
