[Photo/The Star]President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta has official set the date when the 12th Parliament will hold it first sitting after the August 8, polls.In a gazette notice, on Thursday the Head of State said August 31, will the date set for the first sitting which will take place at the main parliament building.
It will be from 2.30 pm at the National Assembly Chamber. This came a day after all elected MPs and MCAs names were gazetted as the nominated MPs and MCAs have until Thursday to be gazetted.
Uhuru is mandated by law to gazette the recall of the National Assembly and the Senate latest September 8.
The MPs' first order of business following their swearing-in is to elect a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker.
