President Uhuru Kenyatta is known for his love for travel which has won him both admirers and critics.
Since attaining power in 2013, President Kenyatta has made 93 international trips – a record for any Kenyan head of state.
On Tuesday when the President traveled to Rwanda for an African Union engagement, he was making his fifth foreign trip for 2018 alone.
He had on Saturday jetted back from a foreign tour in the Caribbean Island of Cuba. In late February, the Kenyan President visited Uganda for an East African Heads of State Summit.
In January, Kenyatta visited Ethiopia and South African for various state functions.
The visits appear to suggest President Kenyatta’s earlier routine of making numerous foreign visits that had taken a break in 2017 when he was campaigning in Kenya.
He only made seven international trips in 2017, a drastic reaction from the 22 visits he made in 2016.
The Jubilee Party Leader was mocked in 2015 as a "tourist President" after making 26 international trips – the highest since he came to office in 2013.
In 2014 and 2013, President Kenyatta made twelve and nine foreign trips respectively.
