Former Budalangi member of parliament Ababu Namwamba on Saturday noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta should accept dialogue only if the opposition recognise his presidency.
Speaking in Eldoret on Saturday, Namwamba noted that President Kenyatta was duly elected therefore deserves the respect of all Kenyans.
Addressing the opposition, the former MP explained that they first must accept that Kenyatta won the elections free and fair before calling for dialogue.
“I am surprised when the opposition leaders pressure President Kenyatta to engage them in dialogue yet they don’t recognize him as the president.
"How can you engage with a person to whom you dispute his leadership? I call upon president Kenyatta not to accept dialogue unless they recognize him as the duly elected president,” he stated.
He applauded calls by foreign envoys urging opposition leader Raila Odinga to accept President Kenyatta as the legitimately elected Head of State adding that Odinga should accept that he was defeated.
“As Labour party, we 100 percent support the calls by foreign envoys for Raila to respect Uhuru Kenyatta’s as duly elected president since he won both the August and October presidential elections. The opposition leader should accept that he was defeated,” Namwamba said.
He assured the Jubilee administration of his support together with that of the labor party in ensuring that the government's promises are implemented to the latter.
