The Thursday’s return from US by opposition leader Raila Odinga could set pace for a revolution in Kenya, warns historian Prof Nyachieo Bogonko.
A section of NASA leader have declared the return date ‘public’ holiday and urged supporters to pitch tent at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to give him heroic reception.
“We urge NASA supporters to come in large numbers and we occupy Jogoo Road from the Airport. This is the time to take Kenya where it belongs,” said Miguna Miguna.
Already NASA has embarked on People’s Assembly quest, which it says will set pace for its quest for good governance.
But Bogonko says the homecoming grand reception may turn to be Uhuru’s monster in many days to come given his ‘defiant’ stand on issues affecting the nation.
“Uhuru is defiant and is not ready to meet the other side of the political divide. If NASA manages to occupy Jogoo Road, that will be the beginning of a long struggle against the government,” he said.
Three years ago, Odinga was given a similar reception after his US tour and went on to launch onslaught against IEBC officials, who eventually quit office.
At US, Odinga addressed Center for International Studies before meeting a section of Congress over the current political impasse in Kenya.
