President Uhuru Kenyatta has for the first addressed his relationship with Chief Justice David Maraga after nullification of his win by the Supreme Court.
After the nullification, President Uhuru launched an attack on Maraga by labelling him a thug.
Speaking on Tuesday during a campaign rally in Rongai, Uhuru said that people had blown out proportion his differences with Maraga and the Supreme Court.
“We have no problem with the people of Kisii and Nyamira. We disagree with the ruling of the court, not the community,” said President Kenyatta. He said that the difference between him and the institution was not a reflection of differences with Maraga's Kisii community.
After the attack, several protests were held in calling for an apology from the president.
