The Jubilee government is not responsible for the lives lost during 2017-2018 electioneering period from both sides of the political divide, President Kenyatta has said.
Speaking at CNN interview in London during the tour to celebrate the 7th year of the commonwealth, the head of state said that the unfortunate deaths were instigated by certain individuals for their egocentric gains.
However, as a parent, President Kenyatta sympathized with the parents who lost their children during the disputed elections and promised to prevent future occurrences of such unlikely events.
He also added that he will make sure that all channels are available for the victims to get justice.
“To all those who were hurts on both sides of the political divide, as far as I am concerned, we have no responsibility for those given the actions that were taken,” said the head of state adding that, “But as a parent myself, I feel for them, I sympathize with them and I give them my assurance that I will do everything that is in my power to ensure that this kind of thing never happens again and make available all channels to ensure that anybody who lost life or property is availed a channel to get justice.”
