President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed the allegations by the National Super Alliance (NASA) that the government has deployed the military in Nyanza.
According to Uhuru, NASA is making the same allegations they made before August 8th polls and he believes the allegations are just propaganda to create fear among Kenyans.
He, however, affirmed that it is the police that have been deployed around the country to provide security during the election.
"The government has not deployed the military on opposition areas for the forthcoming election. This is just propaganda by the opposition to create fear just as they did before the August election. It is however the police that have been deployed all over the country to provide security during the election period," reiterated the president.
The president also dismissed the assertion that the election boycott by NASA will interfere with the legitimacy of the forthcoming presidential election.
In his view, NASA has a right to stay away from the election but should give other Kenyans the peace to elect their president.
"The legitimacy of the 26th election will not be interfered with just because some people decide not to participate in the process. NASA has all the right to boycott the election but their right should not override the right of others who want to vote," added president Kenyatta.
He made the remarks on Sunday during an interview with a Citizen TV journalist where he further claimed that the police were cracking on rioters who were using demonstrations as a decoy to destroy property and steal from other Kenyans.
