President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit back at ODM claiming that the orange party is out to make money and fill their coffers instead of Kenyans welfare. The Head of State was speaking in Ruaka, Kiambu county on Wednesday, where he said the move by ODM to issue direct nomination to a selected number of politicians is just a money making venture."Our colleagues, as we speak are giving out certificates. They are seated in office and deciding this place is for this candidate, and this for another. It means they have no agenda for the ordinary person," said Uhuru.Uhuru even compared the ODM National Election Board (NEB) to a crocodile who was resting by the riverbank to collect money from rich candidates."It is not that they are giving them for free, there is a crocodile there, whose work is to collect money," he said.
Uhuru, however, said Jubilee Party has the best interest for the ordinary Kenyan and will thus ensure that no candidate is offered a direct nomination ticket.
"The nomination exercise will be free and fair. No one will be accorded a direct ticket because the people will decide those to run on the party's ticket in August," he said.
ODM issued direct nominations to governors Hassan Ali Joho (Mombasa), Josephat Nanok (Turkana), Amason Kingi (Kilifi), Joseph Nkedianye (Kajiado), James Ongwae (Kisii), Evans Kidero (Nairobi), and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega).
Jubilee Party has set its primaries on April 21.
