President Uhuru Kenyatta has spoken hours after the Supreme Court nullified his re-election on the basis of failing to meet the Constitutional threshold on the electoral process.

Uhuru said as the incumbent he respects the ruling but does not agree with the verdict of the courts but he is still firm to take on Raila Odinga in a re-run within the next 60 days.

"I personally disagree with the judges' ruling, however, I respect it," he said.

"We are not at war with our brothers in the opposition and we are ready to continue with our agenda for the nation," he added.

The Head of State also took a jibe at the Supreme Court judges but also called for peaceful co-existence among Kenyans in equal measure.

"Five or six people cannot change the will of the people. Six people have decided that they will go against the will of the people but we are still one," he said.

The president said the people spoke by electing Jubilee politicians in large numbers during the August 8, polls but his election was nullified despite the large number of the ruling party in both Senate and Parliament.

"You Kenyans have decided and elected a majority of Jubilee Governors, MPs, Woman Reps, Senators, and MCA. Let me say for the third instance that is important as Kenyans to respect the rule of law," said Uhuru.
