President Uhuru Kenyatta’s quest to retain power has continued to face several challenges ahead of the fresh polls. Political infighting is likely to cost Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto votes in Ukambani region.

Backstabbing and suspicions among different faction have made the vote hunt mission in Ukambani a nightmare for Jubilee allies.

Mr Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Ms Rachael Nyamai (Kitui South) and Mr Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) believe that they are more valuable after delivering Jubilee seats to the President as compared to 'election losers' who include Former Kitui Senator David Musila masquerading in the name of hunting for votes.

Another faction has not been content with the leaders chosen to spearhead Uhuru’s campaign in the region on the grounds that they are not politicians. This is after Businessman Muthoka was appointed to head the team as Uhuru seeks to garner more votes from the region.

“Businessmen and civil servants are the best in mobilizing resources and data but not the actual campaigns. Those who have run for political office should be tasked with leading Jubilee’s hunt for votes,” said former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu, as quoted by Nation.

On his part, Muthoka has maintained that he has been a staunch supporter of the head of state, adding that Kambas need to speak in one voice.
