The head of state, President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta has surprised Kitui East residents and its Member of Parliament, Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai by launching a 25 million drought alleviation project. The star has reported.
Speaking during the launch of the program at a rally held at Zombe trading cente, Uhuru assured the people of Kitui of his government addressing the problems they face and improving their lives standards through implementation of such programs.
The launch of the drought mitigation programme comes at a time when famine and drought has been on the rise in Kitui and other Ukambani areas leading to the death of several animals and people.
Jubilee die hard MP Nimrod Mbai assured Kitui resident of fresh water supply to their homesteads, he promised to use the money to rehabilitate worn out water distribution points, distribute water tanks to more than 15 primary schools and to drill boreholes in the region.
The outspoken MP addressed other rallies within the region and campaigned for the re-election of President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto in the upcoming October 26 polls.
