President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have insisted that there will be an election on October 26.

Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the historic Uhuru Park, the President and his deputy said voting is a constitutional right and no one can bar Kenyans from the activity.

"Kenyans will go to the ballot on October 26 to defend democracy," Deputy Presisdent William Ruto said.

Kenyatta said those planning to disrupt the poll will be dealt with.

"I want to assure all Kenyans who wiill be voting on October 26 that my administration is ready to counter any threat to your right to vote," he said.

NASA leaders have insisted that they will ensure no poll takes place on the set date after they pulled out of the race citing bias by the electoral body.

NASA has insisted on demands it termed 'irriducible minimums'.
