President Uhuru Kenyatta describes his political rival Raila Odinga a ‘close’ friend and challenges Kenyans to embrace each other.
Uhuru says the two have been ‘working’ together for some time and that their differences are ‘ideological’ contrary to interpretation of many.
For the second consecutive election, the two leaders will be battling for the top seat in a typical rematch of 2013 elections.
“He (Odinga) in a close friend of mine despite our often differences in public. We have worked together before, said Odinga at Jogoo in Kisii County.
He added: “Our differences are only ideological because we differ on principle. Elections will come and go but Kenya shall remain intact.”
The two worked briefly together in 2005 plebiscite and had a short span within the ODM party before Uhuru bolting out in support of retired president Mwai Kibaki’s candidature.
Uhuru is on a two days visit in vote rich Gusii region and is expected to tour Nyamira County later on Wednesday.
