President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga to consider quitting active politics after August 8 general elections.

Kenyatta said he is confident of defeating Raila, saying the Opposition leader should throw in the towel after the polls.

The Head of State promised that he will take good care of the former Prime Minister by according him a decent retirement package.

"I will make sure he gets a befitting send-off package including security so that he can enjoy his retirement," President Kenyatta said on Thursday during a campaign tour in Nyeri County.

The Jubilee Party leader who was accompanied by his deputy William Ruto, urged the residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for them in August so that Jubilee does not share power with the Opposition after elections.

He said NASA was not ready for elections and was trying to engineer an electoral crisis that would lead to the formation of a coalition government.

“The Opposition wants to plant seeds of doubt about the electoral process and cause instability. They will then negotiate to be in a 'nusu-mkate' government like they did in 2007. Please turn out in huge numbers to protect me from such a scenario,” the President said as quoted by Daily Nation.

Kenyatta promised Nyeri residents that the Thika superhighway dual carriageway will be extended to Nanyuki through Nyeri, following financial partnership with African Development Bank.

During his tour in the county that overwhelmingly voted for him in 2013 polls, the President commissioned a Sh600 million stadium in Ruring’u. He said the first phase will be completed before the end of this year.

The Head of State also gave 3,000 title deeds to squatters of colonial villages in the vast county.
