A sugarcane farmer contracted by Mumias Sugar company has vowed to gift President Uhuru Kenyatta with pieces of canes during his inauguration.Asman Ogoti said the pieces of sugarcane are the only gifts he could manage to reward the president for reviving Mumias Sugar company.“The only gift I can afford are these pieces of cane. We are grateful that cane farming is now profitable, thanks to his efforts,” said OgotiThe 40-year old said said he will be traveling to Nairobi today (Monday) night after which he will contact his friends and relatives who know Nairobi better to direct him to the Kasarani stadium where Uhuru will be sworn in.“I will then link up with one of my relatives who knows Nairobi well to take me to the event. I have confidence that I will reach him and present my gift,” he added as quoted by the Standard.Asman said he had uprooted cane from his farm after Mumias Sugar Company was closed due to financial crisis. The National Government however, injected sh.3.7billion into the cash-strapped company bringing it back to operation to benefit farmers.
Uhuru and Ruto in July presented Sh.500million to the company's management to settle farmers debts and a portion of it to be invested in maintenance.
