President Uhuru Kenyatta would have a slight advantage over opposition leader Raila Odinga should the country be subjected to a runoff.
The two are expected to know their fate after a determination by Supreme Court which is due to make a ruling over Odinga’s petition that seeks to have Uhuru’s victory nullified.
And Gideon Mamboleo says Uhuru would sail easily should the court nullify his reelection due to ‘state machinery’ advantage and a host of MPs elected on his party.
“A reelection would mean a defeat to Odinga because of state machinery. Uhuru would move easily from corner to corner in this country,” he says.
He further says: “Jubilee has quite a number of elected MPs across the country and they would easily campaign for the president.”
Should the court nullify elections, the country would have again another two months of epic campaigns with another election expected in November.
IEBC declared Uhuru the winner after scaring 54 percent to Odinga’s 44 percent in an election that witnessed little violence after the announcement.
