The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared eight candidates to contest for the presidency seat in the upcoming August elections.

Of the seven nominees, seven will be seeking to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The cleared presidential candidates include the president (Jubilee Party), Raila Odinga (ODM), Dr Ekuru Aukot (Thirdway Alliance), Abduba Dida (ARC), Cyrus Jirongo (UDP) and independent candidates Joe Nyagah, Prof Michael Wainanina and Japhet Kaluyu.

However, a section of political analysts have argued that the race to State House will be of two horses, incumbent Uhuru and the National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga.

The rest of the presidential aspirants have dismissed the claims and expressed confidence they will win in the polls.
