President Uhuru Kenyatta has reassured Kenyans of his commitment to fighting corruption and promoting good governance.
Kenyatta said as he begins his second and final term, fighting corruption would be his first priority.
"It will not be business as usual for civil servants who deny Kenyans the quality of service they deserve. Each and every one shall be held accountable as an individual," he said.
The President, in his International Anti-Corruption Day statement, asked Kenyans support his government in fighting the graft, which he said is a great stumbling block to achieving Vision 2030.
"It is therefore necessary for all of us, for the sake of the country, to become champions of good governance and transparency in all our dealings," Kenyatta said.
The Head of State reiterated that preventing and fighting corruption must become every Kenyan's business.
"Corruption represses people, communities and nations at large. A nation whose moral fiber is broken becomes a weak nation in all respects," he noted.
Kenyatta further asked the Judiciary to back fight against graft by addressing the protracted delays in the justice system.
"The abuse of the courts to sabotage the fight against corruption must stop," the President vowed.
