President Uhuru Kenyatta has bashed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for criticising government projects.
Addressing residents during the relaunch of the Mtongwe Ferry on Monday, Uhuru challenged Joho to show the projects he had initiated in the county.
The President accused Joho of interfering with national projects, and asked him to stop following him around, and instead focus on serving the people.
“Anajaribu kunifuatafuata badala ya kuwaambia wakaazi wa Likoni amewafanyia nini. Tunafuatana na yeye afanye nini? Mimi sio bibi yake....Why does he want to follow me? Am I his wife? He should tell people what he has done for them,” said Uhuru.
Uhuru further claimed that Joho keeps hampering national projects and presidential functions to cover up for his lack of development, adding that he will teach the county boss a lesson if he keeps interfering with government's work.
"He should not play with us or else we will teach him a lesson," said Uhuru.
This comes after Joho was barred from attending the event, with reports indicating that he has been placed under office arrest.
The governor claimed that the officers who blocked him from accessing town told him that they had received instructions to place him under office arrest until the President leaves the county.
