President Uhuru Kenyatta maintains that he will not hesitate to defend people’s property should NASA supporters revert to looting and intimidation of members of the public.
NASA leader Raila Odinga had called for supporters on Tuesday to protest against the IEBC commission, from which he wants to have a number of officials ejected.
While Uhuru maintained that security forces will give protesters support they need, he cautioned that he will not delay to take an action for those who may turn violent.
“They can demonstrate peacefully but if you touch a banana belonging to traders in the streets, you will meet the full force of the law.
“They are free to hurl insults at me because that won’t change me. We will not condone a breach of peace,” he said, while on his tour to Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Meru counties.
Should a number of officials fail to quit, Raila Odinga said, his team will not participate in the October 26th elections.
Majority Supreme Court ruling that invalidated Uhuru’s victory precipitated repeat election, which is however facing predicaments due to uncertainty within all stakeholders.
