President Uhuru Kenyatta maintains no one is above the law including himself adding that those who will be found on the wrong will be dealt with in accordance to the law.
In a jibe supposedly directed to opposition leader Raila Odinga, a defiant Uhuru insisted that police will not hesitate to arrest law breakers and prosecute them.
"No one is above the law including myself. If you think you can break the law of the law andgo free, we cannot allow it to happen," he said.
For the past four months, Jubilee has been accusing Raila of allegedly inciting his supporters to break the law by destroying other people's property.
But n Tuesday during Jamuhuri Day celebrations, Uhuru said police will enforce the law regardless of someones's position or class.
"Those taking advantage of their seniority will not be spared. It is time we respect the very constitution we passed. Follow the law or face jail," he added.
Prior to Tuesday's function, police officers had threatened to arrest Odinga if he went on with his inauguration plans.
The opposition team has blamed the police for the death of tens of protesters who have reportedly been shot dead since August.
