For the third time in as many months, President Uhuru Kenyatta offered unreserved apology to his political nemesis Raila Odinga as the country's unity transformation took a new dimension.
Having concluded his unwritten speech in National Prayers, Uhuru caused a stir when he invited Raila, DP William Ruto and Kalonzo Musyoka to the main dais.
"I am not going to sing today like last year. I want us to do something different in this special occasion," he said.
On Wednesday, an agitated Uhuru had warned handshake detractors adding that he is keen to stabilise the country with his political enemy cum friend.
And at Safari Park, Uhuru asked Raila for forgiveness with the same message being replicated by his deputy to Mr. Musyoka.
"We have campaigned against one another. We have said nasty things against one another. We have hurt one another," said a remorseful Uhuru.
"On my behalf, I ask for your forgiveness and tender my apology. Let us work together to better the country."
While addressing the Congression, Raila said he is committed to ensure his unity deal with the president succeeds.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka also said he has learnt to forgive, adding that elections should not divide Kenyans.
