Jubilee vice chairperson David Murathe said on Friday the commander in chief will stay at the helm of the party that was formed after the dissolution of The National Super Alliance and United Republican Party that was led by Deputy President William Ruto.
He was speaking in Muranga South sub county when the Chinese government donated computers to schools in the area.
“We have a dedicated party leader,” Murathe said.
“Even after his departure from State House in 2022, he will remain the party leader.”
It is, however, still unknown how politicians from Rift Valley will take the remark bearing in mind Ruto will be gunning for the presidency in 2022.
Conventionally in Kenya, party leaders contest for the presidency.
Murathe, a cousin to Uhuru said the Jubilee administration is confident of retaining the presidency after 2022.
Ruto will likely face NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka during the contest.
