Webuye Pan Paper Mills is expected to resume operations in September this year.
The paper mill was expected to be reopened by August 30.
According to the Star, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to commission the paper miller which closed in 2008 over accrued electricity bills.
Uhuru announced plans to reopen the factory in April saying an agreement with a strategic investor had been reached.
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka who toured the facility assured former employees that the government will ensure all dues owed to them are paid after the reopening.
"We will ensure our people are the immediate beneficiaries of the revival of this once-great company," he said as quoted by the Star.
Water minister Eugene Wamalwa, Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula and Agricultural Development Corporation chairman Wafwoli Bifwoli were present during the inspection.
