[Photo: the-star.co.ke]Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga has not made inroads in Meru County as the coalition purports if a new opinion poll conducted by Radio Africa is anything to go by.According to the poll, Meru remains a Jubilee stronghold with 86% of the respondents indicating that they would re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta and a paltry 10% saying they would vote Raila.Recent media reports and surveys have been indicating that Meru has slowly been sliding out of Jubilee's hands with Nasa sometimes saying that Meru will be a battle ground county.Ironically, it is Jubilee that has made inroads in Kisii County which is perceived widely to be a Nasa stronghold. Uhuru polls at 31% against Raila's 57%.The survey was conducted using computer-aided telephone interviews and has a sampling error of +/-1.7 percent, with a 95 percent confidence level. The survey further shows that Uhuru remains the favourite among youthful voters, many of whom will be voting for the first time. The President has 49 per cent support against Raila's 42 percent among youths aged 18-24, the new poll shows. The poll, however, indicates that male adults have equal backing for the two presidential frontrunners at 47% while Uhuru has a strong backing of female voters at 50 percent, against Raila's 40 percent. The new poll of 3,549 respondents was conducted between July 10 and 16.
