Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to postpone his swearing-in set for Tuesday.
Uhuru is expected to take the oath of office to serve his second and final term after being reelected on October 26 repeat presidential election, a poll which NASA boycotted.
Through its Secretary General Francis Atwoli, COTU said for the sake of peace in the country, the ceremony should be called off.
"It will be suicidal to continue with the inauguration amid the deep-seated divisions between supporters of NASA and those of the Jubilee Party," he said before leaving for Belgium, Saturday night.
Atwoli said the two leading politicians should hold dialogue to end the current political impasse.
"I am appealing to President Uhuru once again to reach out to Raila so that they can find an amicable solution to end the rising political temperatures," he said.
The veteran trade unionist added: "They should engage in discussion without listening to their lieutenants who may be harbouring some selfish agenda."
He warned against ignoring Raila, who he said has a huge political constituency which can disrupt the socio-economic and political order.
"When Raila called for an economic boycott, millions of his supporters heeded his call," Atwoli noted.
