Kisii Governor James Ongwae now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party to withdraw from Nyacheki ward by-elections slatted 26th October to avoid inevitable embarrassment.
The Jubilee Party has fielded Maxwell Magoma who will be taking on ODM’s Naphtali Onkoba in an election that has witnessed fireworks in the region.
Speaking on Wednesday ahead of Governor Hassan Joho and Evans Kidero’s tour that is scheduled on Friday, Ongwae expressed his optimism that the orange party will win by landslide.
“If I were the President, I would have advised my party to withdraw its candidature in an election that will lose badly. Nyacheki is an ODM zone and we have seen you residents chasing away Jubilee campaigners,” he said at a well-attended meeting.
The Kisii County Boss added: “Jubilee cannot win the election and it would have been important that they withdraw and concede to ODM. We cannot watch a new party taking a slot in Gusii land. That is a big dream that won’t come true.”
The Orange Democratic Movement has lined up a series of rallies that will be graced by top politicians and will culminate with the tour of party leader Raila Odinga and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire on October 23rd.
