[Photo/the-star.co.ke]Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association has condemned President Uhuru Kenyatta's attacks and threats on Supreme Court judges following the Friday's ruling on NASA's petition.While addressing his supporters at Burma market in Nairobi on Friday, Uhuru referred the Chief Justice David Maraga and the other Supreme Court judges as "wakora" He further said, "Maraga (CJ) ajue ya kwamba anadeal na rais yule amekalia kiti." This translates to "Maraga should be aware he is dealing with a sitting president."Speaking on Saturday, KMJA Secretary General Bryan Khaemba termed Uhuru's remarks as veil threats.“The KMJA takes exception to remarks attributed to the top leadership of this country which were made at a political rally yesterday and which had the effect of disparaging the judges of the Supreme Court,” Khaemba said.The Law Society of Kenya has also criticised Uhuru's and Ruto's threatening remarks on the judiciary.He added, "However, we ask Kenyans especially the political class to desist from personal profiling of judicial officers who are engaged in their constitutionally ordained duties."Khaemba asked Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto to respect the courts.The association also hailed the Supreme Court of Kenya for delivering on its mandate despite the strict timelines.
