The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has put President Uhuru Kenyatta on notice over his remarks on the Judiciary ruling on the printing of presidential ballot papers.

In a statement to newsrooms on Monday, LSK president Isaac Okero accused the Head of State of intimidating the Judiciary, terming Uhuru's utterances as "deplorable and an attempt to compromise the independence of the Judiciary."

“The accusations and warnings levelled at the Chief Justice and the Judiciary represent an unacceptable breach of the doctrine of separation of powers and a gross violation of the independence of the Judiciary at a time when it plays a critical role on behalf of the people in resolving disputes arising from the election process,” he said.

President Kenyatta made the remarks over the weekend during a rally in Baringo county.

He faulted the Judiciary over the recent ruling on the awarding of a ballot-printing tender to a Dubai-based company Al Ghurair.
