Elected leaders from Turkana county have called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to change his decision and instead back senate speaker Ekwe Ethuro's re-election as the house boss.

Speaking in a press conference Monday, the leaders led by Turkana Central MP-elect LodepeNakara said that Ethuro has done a good job in his first term and is elligible for a repeat of the same.

''He has performed well and we want him retained so that the same can continue,'' said Nakara.

His comments were echoed by the county Women Representative-elect Joyce Emanikor who said that by having Ethuro replaced, the Jubilee government will have downplayed the community and all the related pastoralist communities.

She said that the community is proud of the speaker calling upon the president to use his influence to have him retained.

''The President should use his influence to have Ethuro retained as he is our point man and the closest one to the executive. He has performed well in representing the interests of the pastoralist communities in the government,'' she said.

This comes at a time when former Kisii county senator Chris Obure has already been tipped to go for the post.

Obure who played an important role in Jubilee's vote hunting mission in Kisii and Nyamira counties in the concluded August 8 general polls failed to clinch the county's gubernatorial on a Jubilee Party ticket a seat that was retained by Governor Ongwae James
