For the second time in less than a week, protests over the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta took centre stage in Gusii region as angry protestors brought down his huge billboard in Kisii town.

Last week, a group of youths from Keroka Township buried an effigy of Uhuru and were later arrested by the police and charged with treason upon being released on a cash bail.

Similar protests ensued in the South Nyanzan Town on Wednesday as protestors accused Uhuru of using ‘unlawful’ means to beat his main rival Raila Odinga in the region.

Trouble started when over six officials attached to NYS were descended upon by angry locals at Dallas Hotel on grounds that they were buying national ID cards from unsuspecting locals.

The six were frog marched within the town before police attached to Kisii Central Police came to their rescue minutes after their woes.

Overpowered by the police, the protesters started chanting anti-Jubilee slogans and pulled down a huge billboard which they set ablaze afterwards.

Also, the locals are said to be angry with Uhuru, whom they accuse of meddling in the case filed against Governor James Ongwae in Kisii High Court.

During the August polls, despite failing to impress over all, Uhuru however managed to score tremendously across the region.
