President Uhuru Kenyatta and Governor Alfred Mutua at a past function [Photo/ politics.co.ke]In an effort to woo Kambas to back his re-election, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that his government has plans to pump Sh20 billion into the construction of Thwake Dam.
The head of state, who spoke during an exclusive interview with a local daily, said that the project will not only solve the problem of water in the region but also boost the economy upon completion. He noted that the dam will provide water for drinking as well as farming purposes.
“The government is preparing to invest about Ksh 20 billion for the constructions of Thwake Dam. This will ensure that residents have enough water to drink and for farming,” he said, as quoted by Citizen TV.
The President, who is contesting for his last time as per the constitution, also said that his government has done a lot for the people of this region, adding that he deserves another term in office to complete what he had started
“We have connected residents to electricity three times more than what had been done before Jubilee took over. We have also launched Sh 1.4 billion water projects to benefit Mwingi residents,” added the President.
Uhuru is banking on Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and other leaders to win the support of Ukambani before the election date.
