President Uhuru Kenyatta has affirmed his confidence that he will be re-elected in the 2017 general election.
The president made the remarks during the 53rd Jamhuri Day fete held at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi on Monday.
According to Uhuru, his development record was a clear boost for him towards the 2017 polls.
Rural electrification projects, digital learning programme, and other government initiatives were a plus for him.
"I am fully confident that Kenyans are going to give me a second term in office. This is because my government has accomplished a lot and I am sure that Kenyans will entrust me for another term," he said.
The Head of State also called on the opposition to work together for the welfare of the country.
He, however, warned political leaders against engaging in divisive politics.
"I call on the opposition to join hands with the government and let us build this country. Development can only be realised through unity. However, political leaders should shun divisive politics," added Uhuru.
According to the President, he was going to be elected through a fair and credible election.
