United State's Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Robert Frank Codec has cautioned political leaders against interfering with independent institutions ahead of the repeat Presidential elections slated for Thursday, October 26.

He urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to sign into law the controversial Elections Amendment Act.

“This election must be held in accordance with the Constitution and laws, as interpreted by the courts. Attempts to change the law at the last moment are also not helpful, and we call again on President Kenyatta not to sign the electoral law amendments that are now on his desk” he advised.

He also urged the government to provide a progress report on the investigations into the murder of former IEBC’s ICT Manager the late Chris Musando in the run up to the August 8 general elections.

NASA maintains that the elections scheduled for 26th do not meet the conditions deduced from the Supreme Court ruling and its subsequent irreducible minimums that were shared both with IEBC and the Public.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday afternoon held a meet with IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and concluded that he would support the electoral agency in ensuring the elections go as planned.
