President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to use all ways possible to make sure that opposition leader Raila Odinga is not sworn in.

According to Kalenjin and Kikuyu elders, Uhuru is the commander in chief of all armed forces, therefore, should not allow the country to plunge into war by having two presidents.

“As elders, we urge President Uhuru Kenyatta to do all that it takes even if it’s to engage in dialogue or using the judiciary to stop Raila from being sworn in since Kenyans are the ones who will suffer. We want peace in our country,” said the Myot Council of Elders patron Mjr (Rtd) John Seii in Eldoret town, Sunday.

“We have refused any attempts to swear in another president, we only have one seat of the presidency as recognized by the constitution, therefore swearing in is against the law as elder we won’t support it at all,” added the Uasin Gishu County Kikuyu spokesman’s Samuel Kamunu wa Kabari.

They, however, advised opposition leader Raila Odinga to swallow his pride and work with President Uhuru Kenyatta because he was duly elected.

“This will help bring people together and stop the enmity that has been witnessed between the Jubilee and NASA supporters after the hotly contested presidential elections,” noted Mjr (Rtd) John Seii.
