President Uhuru Kenyatta has accused the national elections agency IEBC of contradicting it's 'independent' state by condoning political interference.

Speaking in Kericho on Friday, the president maintained that the Wafula Chebukati-led commission is following the opposition's lead as it prepares to oversee the oncoming October 17 presidential polls.

''IEBC should stop reacting to every allegation and demand the NASA alliance launches. It's an independent body and should use it's independence to serve the people,'' said the President.

Uhuru who was accompanied by his deputy William Ruto and a host of other leaders allied to the Jubilee party advised the commission to instead invest its time towards the success of the approaching October 17 presidential elections.

''Instead of working towards pleasing the opposition, the body should be preparing to take this nation through a free and fair exercise in the oncoming elections,'' said Kenyatta.ll.
