President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to elect leaders based on best policies and development record ahead of the August elections.

Speaking in Kitui on Thursday, the head of State called on the country to shun away from electing leaders based on tribes.

“Do not choose leaders based on tribe, clan or family but on policies. It is policies which will determine what kind of future you will have. Development is not brought about by your tribe or family but by good policies," said Uhuru.

The President was speaking to a rally to mobilize residents to register as voters in large numbers.ountyry.

During the rally, Uhuru was accompanied by local leaders from the region.
